Agatha Christine is a human-rights defender (paralegal) and the Secretary of Slum Women’s Initiative for Development. She is married with seven children living in Walukuba Police Wing Village, Jinja, Uganda.
Dinah Okoth is a citizen of School Village, Walukubi, Masese Division. She is a widow and a mother. She is the Chairperson of the Slum Women’s Initiative for Development interlocking block making project . Okoth is the Vice Secreatry of SWID.
TRANSLATION:
I joined Slum Women’s Initiative for Development in 2003. I was elected Treasurer, we started saving and accessing loans to purchase land and construct houses.
I also acquired knowledge in land rights and I do help other women by referring them to the right offices where they seek justice in case their rights are violated.
Kagoda Mariam is a mother of six living in School Village, Walukuba East, Jinja. She is one of the first beneficiaries of the houses in SWID. She obtained a 99 years – family land title. She is very happy because she got a water tank, since she no longer makes line which has saved her a lot of time.
