Grassroot women participation in the climate change fight
Human beings co- exist with nature, we receive oxygen from trees and we give them Carbon dioxide, cutting trees is like cutting off our life. Human beings are the man cause of climate change through their actions.
Humans and wild animals face new challenges for survival because of climate change. More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, floods and diseases can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities.
There is an agency to sensitize communities about climate change and dialogue together solutions to over come this world big problem. Slum women initiative for development is working with grassroot women farmers in Busoga Sub-region to plant each a minimum of 5 trees depending on the size of their land and encouraging The women to continue sensitizing communities as agents of change. SWID encourages and gives fruit trees to grassroot women for planting as a mitigation to climate change , food security, nutrition and economic empowerment.
